Productivity up 50% with Printready |

Adam Lewis, General Manager of Cliff Lewis Printing credits the installation of Heidelberg’s Prinect Printready system with getting his “family life back”, so great has been its impact on the company’s ability to produce quality work fast.
“The installation of Printready has made a massive difference to the time spent in pre-press on a single job. In turn thist has sped up the entire production workflow,” says Adam. “Due to its flexibility in both CtP and digital workflow productivity increases are up by more than 50 per cent.”
Family owned and operated, Cliff Lewis Printing is a general commercial printer producing both offset and digital work. Established in 1975, the company, which is located in Sydney’s southern suburbs, employs 35 and works with a variety of clients including corporates, ad agencies and print brokers.
Adam chose to put in Heidelberg’s Prinect Printready system, a JDF based workflow with open interfaces, because he wanted to reduce the time taken in pre-press to “fix” clients’ files.
“Files supplied by customers often aren’t printer friendly. Printready enables us to accept all types of file formats make changes and convert the files without loss of integrity or corruption. It is a foolproof way to ensure the customer’s expectations for colour and quality are met.”
“When you think about sustainable printing, efficiency is everything,” says Adam. “Printready has made our entire workflow much more efficient and stable. We are able to make changes to particular pages within the workflow without compromising the rest of job, and are able to manage colours within the proof.”
“When we went from a film and proofing system to CtP we realised we needed a solution to ensure file integrity between proofing and plating. Printready has delivered on that objective and more. I’ve been able to increase turnover because we can push through that much more work. I’ve also streamlined our operation and reduced overheads as a direct result. It is an extremely worthwhile investment.”
