Heidelberg Cleans Up at IGAS

The purchase of a Speedmaster (SM)102-10 colour perfector by Complete Colour at IGAS is not only a win for Heidelberg, but also for the environment.

Complete Colour’s mandate is to be the “leading environmentally responsible printing company in Australia” and the company’s expanded plant in the Melbourne suburb of Cheltenham is designed to reduce the impact of print production on the environment.

General Manager Geoff Lawyer says the purchase of the SM102-10-P “is a natural progression for the company and compliments our plant perfectly.”

The SM102-10-P has been specified as a full alcohol free press which Lawyer says “will enable us to keep pace with the growth in demand we are experiencing from customers who are supportive of our environmental policies.”

The press is equipped with Washstar and Cleanstar devices.  The Washstar device is connected to the Eco Clean solvent recycling system which minimises the volume of solvent used and the resultant residue and waste materials.

Heidelberg’s own commitment to the environment and sustainability, for which the company has been awarded internationally, is clearly evident in the engineering of the SM102-10-P one of the most environmentally-friendly long perfector presses on the market.

Complete Colour has been a long time customer of Heidelberg and has recently upgraded its bindery with the installation of a ST350 stitching line and two fully automated TH82 folding machines.  Pre-press has also been enhanced with the addition of Meta Dimension workflow.

Alastair Hadley General Manager Sales Heidelberg Australia & New Zealand says the sale to Complete Colour is indicative of an emerging trend for mid-sized companies to embrace the latest long perfector technology enabling them to compete with the larger end of town.

“We are seeing more companies in this mid-range bracket adopting long perfector technology.  As the leading supplier in the long perfector market Heidelberg is in a strong position to meet both the productivity objectives and the environmental concerns of our customers and we anticipate an increase in the number of printers adopting more green practices without forsaking productivity and profits in the future.”
