Name: Sean Fogarty
Position: Account Manager, Queensland
How long have you been working at Heidelberg? Three and a half years
What did you do before joining Heidelberg? Account Manager for IPP Man Roland (now Ferrostal)
Tell us about your hobby? I like to go to motor sport events
What is your favourite place? Kangaroo Island SA
Your favourite movie and why do you like it best? Blade Runner Directors Cut – this is truly one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, you have to think to understand and appreciate it. The director's cut is the one to see as it omits a distracting narration and avoids a Hollywood-style ending that is at odds with the rest of the film's tone.
The most challenging experience you've had? Immigrating to Australia from Ireland
When did you move to Australia and why? I always used to watch with wonder the New Years Eve's Firework display from Sydney Harbour and think "wow I'd love to go and see that". On a New Years Day after inevitably watching it again on television I decided that you only live once and I was still of an age where I could make a go of a new life away from my European roots.
The following week I started my application for an Australian Residential permit and within 1 year I was granted one. I moved here in 1999 and have since become naturalised and never looked back. What's the best thing about Australia? The people. They will always give you a fair go and if you like hard work will open up opportunities you would find very difficult to get back in Europe.
Describe a typical day at work First up I catch up all email correspondence and follow up if required. Then I get out and about doing customer visits and follow up the things I have promised to do at the end of my day
What do you do to improve customer satisfaction? I always try and follow up my commitments to customers on time. I come from a technical background which helps our customers to understand the technical complexities of our products better. Honesty and integrity are important to me in all my dealings.
What do you like best about working at Heidelberg? The privilege of working for a world-leading brand. Being and feeling part of the Heidelberg family.
The most memorable moment at Heidelberg? PacPrint 2005 when I achieved the highest amount of orders taken during the show.
What would you be doing if you didn't work for Heidelberg? Racing cars if I had the resources, but seriously, working as an Account Manager elsewhere within the industry.
Where do you see yourself in five years time? Most likely I will be still at Heidelberg.
