52i - RIP and Imposition in one cost effective solution |

Together with the new Suprasetter A52, Heidelberg displayed a new dedicated small format PDF workflow solution at PrintEx 07 in Sydney.
The well-known MetaDimension has been adjusted to suit small businesses and is called MetaDimension 52i. This version includes Imposition Editor, which provides impositioning without extensive user training and set up cost.
When businesses consider entering high-quality thermal CtP they are usually confronted with a relatively big investment for such a solution. Although not always obvious, a large proportion of this investment can be training and getting operators used to the new workflow. Therefore easy-to-use software is crucial for a successful introduction of a new workflow.
Together with the new Suprasetter A52/74, MetaDimension 52i provides this cost-effective and easy-to-use solution. It is dedicated to small businesses which want to efficiently manage their standard processes but don’t need a fully automated solution.

MetaDimension 52i provides all functionality required in a small format print shop and accepts PDF or PostScript files. The RIP offers a wide range of optional functionalities, including outputting colour-managed proofs, sending presetting data to the press, trapping and various screenings.
As standard, MetaDimension 52i comes with the Imposition Editor, which enables the operator to do all required impositioning for the 2up format. Integrated into Acrobat Professional as a Plug-in, the Imposition Editor prepares the PDF for the entire production, including setting of bleed and trim, selecting of predefined folding schemes, gripper margins and binding methods, importing or setting of cutting and folding marks and colour bars. Job settings can be stored, so similar jobs or sections can be imposed in seconds.

Because the Imposition Editor can be operated intuitively, there is very little training required. Even so the Imposition Editor still provides the intelligence of the stand-alone Prinect Signa Station, which provides the ‘best in industry’ imposition solution.
In conjunction with MetaDimension 52, the Suprasetter A52/74 thermal plate setter enables small print shops to expand their business into full in-house plate production lowering their production cost and helping to raise production quality by changing to thermal plate technology.
