Proper Roller and Blanket Maintenance is largely dependent on the type of press chemistry that the printer uses. Highly volatile or cheap low quality products can remove plasticiser from rubber which results in shrinkage, glazing and hardening of the rollers and blankets.
Additionally, low quality products can also corrode hoses, seals and the machinery paintwork, creating further time consuming issues in the pressroom during a printing run!
These washes don't always provide optimum results, they can be toxic, have unpleasant odours and are generally environmentally hazardous.
