First installation of Heidelberg CD74-6-LXF in QLD

06-06-2006
Heaneys Performers In Print has worked hard to achieve their success, having evolved from a small family-owned and operated supplier of printed products into one of the country’s most respected trade establishments.

“Smart investment is the key to success,” says Susan Heaney, managing director of Heaneys Performers in Print.

Starting with a Rotapress in 1979, Heaneys has seen many changes over the years. In 2001, the company invested in their first Heidelberg Speedmaster SM74-5 press and embarked on a series of initiatives that extended beyond equipment to their business model and their marketing approach. Between 2003 and  2005 Heaneys implemented a major expansion program, including upgrades to their bindery with the purchase of a ST100 saddle stitcher and the replacement of their older folders with new automated Stahlfolders. The next part of the business to be upgraded was prepress, with Heaneys investing in a Suprasetter 74 platesetter.

The plant runs 24 hours a day six days a week, with work being despatched to customers all over Australia. The partnership between Heaneys and Heidelberg has always been built around good support and sound technical advice. Heaneys’ production facility takes advantage of the CIP4 integration between Prepress, Press and Postpress linking to the latest in MIS estimating and quotation system. This integration is the result of continued investment in equipment designed for connectivity.

In April 2006, Heaneys made another major investment with the installation of the first Heidelberg CD74-6 LX in Queensland – one further step to extend their business services offering with new technology. “Business is not a static environment but a dynamic work in progress. Accordingly, we must continually look for new technology and broaden our service scope to embrace the challenges in today’s printing market,” says Heaney. “This is the reason we decided to invest in the CD74-6."

The Heidelberg CD74 is well-known for its speed and flexibility – it is designed to run a wide range of substrates from flimsy papers to stiff board and plastic sheets; and is almost an omnipotent press. Its extensive automation is well acknowledged by our printers. “By adding the special applications like inline coating, we can offer even more to our customers which definitely brings value to us as well,” Heaney added.
