In order to optimize the setup time for folding machines, Heidelberg Postpress offers an ergonomic, mobile preparation device for the pre-adjustment of slitter shafts.
The principle is a simple and safe and allows the exact-to-position clamping of the slitter shaft between a relocatable top and a stationary mandrel. Working widths are 56, 66, 78, 82 cm for the TH/KH series, as well as 94 cm for the TD/KD series.
The ergonomic design means that set up takes place at a comfortable height and allows for a relaxed and safe adjustment of slitter shafts. The slitter shaft tools are positioned by means of mm scales and set up is very accurate so that re-adjusting on the machine is rare.

By utilising a second set of slitter shafts, jobs can be set up in advance and stored on the device to reduce make ready time and utilise specialist skills while folders remain in production. Once the set up is complete the slitter assemblies can be loaded into the folder where minimal fine tuning will see the make ready time substantially reduced. Along with integrated stacking trays (drawers) that allow for clean and safe storage of valuable accessories the unit is another example of Heidelberg's innovative approach to an "old" problem.
