Vision for Print: Heidelberg Printmaster PM52 and Workflow

12-10-2006
The Dynamite Group Pty Ltd.

The Dynamite Group based in Dandenong, Victoria has been running for over twelve years. Managing Director Scott Martin took over the business five years ago from his father Ray. Initially a business card printer, Dynamite’s business has grown through smart investment, use of the latest available technology and utilising integrated workflow systems and today its product range has expanded to include a comprehensive range of printed products.

By adding a new Heidelberg five colour Printmaster PM52, full Printready Meta workflow and Heidelberg Prepress Interface the company’s ambitions moved from dream to reality.
Details
Initially Martin, and Production Manager Steve Whatman, contacted Heidelberg with the intention of buying a remarketed press. Heidelberg’s Business Development team suggested a thorough analysis of the business, its needs, future plans and existing capabilities prior to any decision being made. Not only did Dynamite want to choose the best press for its needs, it also wanted to optimise its return on investment. The result of the analysis was a recommendation to purchase a five colour Printmaster PM52. Martin’s decision was confirmed once he witnessed the advanced technology on the multi-colour Printmaster and its value for money.

Martin’s attention was not only on the press but also the workflow offered by Heidelberg. He sees printing as a workflow with Prepress being a vitally important part of the production process. By purchasing of a full Printready workflow system, which includes Signastation Imposition software, the function and efficiency of Dynamite’s Prepress department was optimised.

Whatman said of the immediate benefits of the investment, “The Printmaster PM52-5 with its touch screen online kit is directly networked to the Prepress Interface, whilst our existing MOS-H utilises the CIP3 technology via a Job Memory Card. We have seen a dramatic decrease in the make ready times with the Prepress Interface tool alone, and massive savings in waste sheets on the MOS-H press as well.”

“Considerable time savings are experienced with the installation of the Signastation Imposition software. One particular job, which previously took about one and a half hours to set up, reduced down to only 20 minutes with the automated workflow,” he added

Martin summarised, ”The Printmaster PM52-5 was installed one month ago and we are very happy with its performance so far. My thanks go to Heidelberg’s Sales and Business Development teams for helping us in our decision-making process and recommending the right machine. Everything works perfectly.”
