Many Management Information Systems from Third-Party Providers Have Already Been Integrated into the Prinect Workflow

23-02-2006
All connections based on standardized JDF/JMF interfaces / Live presentations with several manufacturers at Ipex

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will present six JDF/JMF-based connections between management information systems (MIS) and the Prinect workflow at the upcoming Ipex in Birmingham. In the main Prinect Center, visitors to the Heidelberg booth can find out more about JDF integration of Prinect Prinance, and JDF-based integration of MIS providers Tharstern, Shuttleworth, Prism and Optimus in the Prinect production workflow. They will also have the chance to see another connection to the Prinect workflow at the booth of MIS provider EFI.

Prinect supports many proven customer installations worldwide using its modular Prinect Management Solutions products. It has successfully implemented effective JDF/JMF-based exchange of data with various management information systems. Thereby, Heidelberg once again underlines the openness of the Prinect system. This gives each customer greater freedom to choose the ideal management information system, increases process transparency, and reduces costs through higher automation.

Heidelberg has used open JDF/JMF interfaces in many successful integration projects at customers over recent months. Now it will significantly improve the process integration in the Graphic Arts Industry by further adding new and enhanced functions to its Prinect products.

Faster job preparation, perfect job tracking, enhanced cost transparency
The new Prinect Integration System and Prinect Pressroom Manager products that Heidelberg will be unveiling for the first time at Ipex 2006 - and the new version of the Prinect Printready System - significantly enhance and simplify the connection between the production workflow and MIS. In future, there will only be one central JDF/JMF interface to the management information system. The Prinect Integration System will distribute the relevant job information to the various production areas automatically and transfer all the production data to the MIS centrally.

For the automated prepress workflow with the Prinect Printready System, the fully automatic transfer of jobs from the MIS has been enhanced significantly. Now, for example, the impositioning processes for standard layouts cannot only be preconfigured but also fully automated without any need for manual intervention by the user.

A wide range of JMF (Job Messaging Format) messages on the availability of pages, proofs and plates create maximum prepress transparency in the MIS.

In the pressroom, the online connection of the management information system via the new Prinect Pressroom Manager ensures further automation of the print processes. The job data from the MIS combined with the ink presetting data are automatically sent to the Prinect CP2000 Center. Jobs can therefore be prepared faster for printing. The reliable press and operating data compiled in the production process is fed back as JMF messages to the MIS, where it allows precise job costing of each individual print job and maximum transparency in the production process.

The Prinect Prinance management information system also opens up the possibility for integrated process optimization in cutting-edge print shops through extended JDF/JMF support. The close interaction of the different Prinect components guarantees reliable integration of all print shop areas. Prinect helps printers to tap the full potential for rationalization and optimization and thus helps them to increase their print shop's output.

Detailed information about the successful integration projects and MIS connections to Prinect and their business benefits is also provided by the specialist presentations held each day in the CIP4 JDF Pavilion.
